Any good websites or stores that sell computer laptops for cheap? I’m looking for one that’s NOT all that powerful, just one I can use at work when I’m bored. Or rather, if my laptop were to get stolen, it wouldn’t be too big of a deal. Around $ 600 CDN or cheaper.

The new Hp mini with the 160 gb hard disk is really good im thinking of getting it for similar use. at uni , But it cannot be your primary laptop , in my case i have my own laptop dell xps m1330 which is amazingly good btw , and if i get the hp minibook , it will be for use such as browsing , checking the mail , maybe some music n uni files on it , the cool thing about it is that it won’t even take but a teenee space in your bag.

Of course there are cheap laptops, everything from re-furbished $ 200 Thinkpads to $ 500 top brand name.
If I may suggest, however, you should LIST the absolute minimum specs that you would accept.
For example, would you really accept less than 1 gig of Ram, knowing the future needs of most modern programs?
Would you accept less than 120 gig hard drive, knowing the size of some of the storage items you may wish to keep.?
Would you accept less than 1.5 Ghz speed of chip, knowing the requirements of modern games you may wish to play?
Would you accept less than wireless ready, knowing that you may wish to move your laptop around your home and environment?
Faced with these minimums then your search becoms easier.
The best source of course is your local computer dealer. I say that because if you buyfrom him and anything goes wrong you can walk in to his shop and face him across the desk and he will fix it. If you buy on line you and anything goes wrong you will have to ship (at a cost of $ 50 to $ 75) to someplace, wait for three weeks without a PC and then wait for the quote as to howmuch all this will cost you (after the warranty has expired).
However, most ofus search the web for best deal, print it out and go to the local dealer and ask him ” Can you match this price?” Usually he will. That is why he is in business.
I have done this twice. I got the best buy on line and then walked in to Source (Canadian name for Circuit City) and they both timee matched the price

The only products you can rely on are Apple laptops. The 13″ MacBook Pro has a 7 hour battery life (real use is about 6 hours on a single charge), weighs 4.5 pounds, and is less than one inch thick.

all are good, but I personally prefer HP.
You should choose one with dual processor and the most RAM.
