What causes a laptop battery to burn?

Question by Chapulin: What causes a laptop battery to burn?
My laptop connector is loose so I need it replaced and I will need a new charger because it won’t charge anymore, the charger needs to be connected in order for the laptop to turn on.

I used my laptop throughout the day and only charged it until it needed more battery juice. I never left it charging overnight because I feel it would be too much charging.

What causes a laptop battery to fry or burn and not work anymore? Because I see laptops in Best Buy or Office Depot and they are charged throughout the whole day and they are fine.

If the power connector is loose, getting it fixed is all you will need to do. The charger should still be fine, it just can’t get the power to the computer.

The thing that makes batteries burn out is that they are not able to withstand heat very well. Heat severely shortens the life of Lithium-Ion batteries like you see in most laptops, and laptops generate a lot of heat.

The best way to prolong the battery life is to charge it until it is full, then remove it from the laptop. Unfortunately, that prevents you from using the battery as a battery backup should the power go out.

Li-Ion batteries are still the best combination of life and cost of production in order to keep the laptop price low.

Laptop key?

Question by `Nami: Laptop key?
I have a toshiba laptop and the UP Arrow key popped out. I tried to pop it back in but only one side of the key snaps back in but the other side doesn’t because about two of the plastic ‘clips’ broke off. How do I go about getting me an arrow key without having to change my entire keyboard? Because I’m definitely not up for that. The keyboard is perfectly fine, it’s just that one key.
