Question by nolzers: want to sell laptop for spares/repairs – can i wipe the hard drive beforehand without damaging sale value?
i have 2 laptops to sell for spares/repairs but want to get my personal data off them before selling – will removing/destroying the drives significantly affect the resell value? would it be better to get a hard drive caddy and get the data off without destroying the hard drive?

unless you are trying to sell the operating system along with the hard drives… just go ahead and format them. The only thing worth anything on the drives is the OS.. otherwise they are just drives..
